Vichy Dermablend Base

Vichy, Dermablend foundation

As I suffer from the world’s most sensitive skin, I tend to shy away from using new base products for fear of all the irritation and redness plaguing me for the two months after. I’ve been using the same products for about 3 years now, and they are fine. They don’t irritate my skin, but they don’t really do that much else either! Although when my skin isn’t acting up, it’s pretty good, and I don’t tend to worry about applying anything other than moisturiser, on the day’s where I need, or even just want, a bit more coverage, I’m normally a bit stuck.

Then I tried this combo from Vichy, and I absolutely loved how gentle they are on my skin, whilst still providing a really good coverage. It was quite an adjustment going from wearing no foundation to a high coverage matte base like this, I found I had to apply it quite quickly to avoid it drying into my skin, but due to the high pigmentation I was able to see where I need to apply it easily which worked well. I did find it weird wearing such a full coverage base, and the next few times I tried mixing it with my Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation, which I found helped to ease the matte texture, which I personally am not a huge fan off, whilst keeping the high coverage.

The setting powder is translucent so doesn’t add any extra colour, but sets the foundation, and claims to be all-weather resistant, and even work underwater. I don’t swim, and if I did I’d probably take my make-up off first, but it certainly did help the foundation to last for the full day.

I’d say if you have any skin concerns, and are looking for a high coverage base that won’t irritate skin further then this is definitely one to try. I’ll be using it in the future whenever I want a bit more coverage.

Thank you to Vichy Dermablend for sending me these products to try. As always, all thoughts, feelings and skin-related woes are my own.

    • you definitely should do!

  • The sound ideal, I have slightly sensitive skin too and it’s sometimes really surprising which products will irritate my skin and which won’t. I guess it’s just a matter of testing a lot of different things.

    • I always think testing is the only way when you can’t be sure of what ingredients are irritants for you!

  • i really need to try this! I dont have sensitive skin but I do have quite a lot of acne scars that need a lot of coverage so this will likely be my next foundation purchase if I can find my shade! xx

    • Ah amazing, yes Vichy’s Dermablend products are known for being great for acne coverage so you should definitely give this a shot. They stock it in larger boots stores, or you could ask for some samples and give it a try!

  • I have this foundation and I love it – especially in the winter x

    • Yeah it is great! Thanks for your comment!

  • I found that this broke me out quite a bit but I think that’s down to the fact that it’s quite high coverage, because it really does give the most flawless finish! I’m sad it didn’t work for me, but I’ve heard it work wonders for so many people x

    • Victoria, that’s so interesting. Nothing works for everyone though it’s so much about just making sure you find the right solution for the individual I think.
