I hate the gym. I really hate it. It’s not that I don’t like working-out because I am one of those weirdo’s who secretly loves exercise, I just hate the gym. They are cold, badly lit, judgemental places, with strange equipment that I’m never sure how to work, and is normally covered in other people’s sweat. They are also expensive, and not inside my house which I’m not a fan of either.
For this reason I’m a big fan of home exercise, particularly yoga. (It’s the easiest one to do at home as it doesn’t require much room.) I’m lucky that I’ve been practising yoga for long enough that I know what I’m doing and can improvise when I don’t have the time / money / energy for a class. But if you are just starting out, this isn’t really ideal. Not only could you injure yourself, but you might not be getting an effective work out. So much of yoga is in the precision of the positions or movement, so getting it right is key, and for this you need a teacher.
This is where Yoogaia steps in. Similarly to other subscription home workout services they have a huge range of classes that can be streamed anywhere, anytime for convenience. However they also have a timetable of live classes, where you can be on webcab to the teacher, in real time, so they can see you, and give feedback during the class. Perfect if, like me, you like the reassurance from a teacher that you are doing the right thing.
They have a whole range of yoga styles, pilates and barre core workouts on the site so it’s not yoga exclusive. The classes range from 10mins to an hour, and vary in difficulty and intensity as well, so there really is something for every ability on the site.
My favourite classes so far are Morning Flow by Heloise, Total Body Cleanse by Sybille, and Vinyasa Flow by Greta.
The best workout I’ve had so far was Barre Tone 45 by Amandine (It was killer)
For anyone else out there with a furry baby Paula’s Furry Friend yoga is highly amusing (maybe more for you than them!)
