Black for Spring

Ah, what beautiful weather we had here in London, that one day before it got miserable again! Oh well, it was fun while it lasted and I made sure to make the most of the sunshine, and explore a local park. However tempting it was to bring out the summer dresses, I knew in my heart of hearts that I would probably still be blooming freezing, and so out came the perfect pair of transitional culottes.

What I Wore

Culottes – & Other Stories / Top – Brandy Melville / Boots – Whistles (old) / Jacket – All Saints (similar here) / Scarf – Topshop (similar here) / Sunglasses – Monki

Their ‘are they a maxi, are they trousers credentials’ are something that really appeals to me, and as a first time culotte owner they have most definitely won me over. Being 5 feet and zero inches high, I always avoid anything that is supposed to have a cut-off length, because well, as you can see these definitely have more of a palazzo pant vibe on me than they are probably supposed to, but what made these culottes different from all the others? They have a large elastic waist band. Tall people will not understand the joy of an elastic waistband, but if you flashback to your school days, and remember how much easier it was to roll-up your elastic waisted skirt, than the button ones I think you’ll start to understand what I mean! All the rolling up capabilities, meaning I can swap between having them long like trousers, or almost the cropped length they are supposed to be!

Now I know your next question will be ‘it may not have been warm enough for summer dresses, but did the outfit have to be all black for the first day of Spring?’ Well my answer to you is YES! Of course. Because even my summer dresses are black so there.

But seriously, I love wearing black in spring with a pair of sunnies, and a leather jacket. There is something about wearing black when you aren’t really supposed to that makes it all the more chic. Besides, my leather jacket is navy so it’s not all that bad really, is it?

I also picked up this gorgeous Acne-a-like scarf in the Topshop sale a few days ago and I can tell it’s really going to see me through spring with all its ‘too hot for a coat too cold for a jacket days’. Three metres of heavenly coziness around my neck. And yes, it is also black. If that isn’t your thing other colours were available.
